Tonight I  have invited Rachel to write the the blog, and she is happy to share her views of a wonderful day.
Today was an amazing today, just like the past few days have been. We got to go to the school today and as soon as we got there, the kids ran up to us and were so excited we were finally here! We played out in the field with them, they sang some songs in their language, and then we taught them a few songs in English. They even sang "Jesus Loves Me" to us. The sweetest sound in the world. Makes me want to cry just talking about it. Here these kids don't have much but the clothes on their back and they are just ecstatic to have the opportunity to be at school. My group is in charge of 3rd and 4th grade, so we went to each of the classrooms, had the kids make name tags (with the help of Webster, our translator because their English is still limited), then they made bracelets. Each colored bead on the bracelet is a Christian meaning, such as red for Christ's sacrifice, so we had Webster translate the meanings and read scripture to them. We also got to give each student a red polo shirt. They wore those shirt proudly. Some of the students were even wearing polo shirts from last year, so it was good for them to get a new one. Tomorrow each student will get a pair of shoes. So excited to see the joy on their face when they receive them. These kids absolutely deserve the best, and this is the least that we can do. I'm looking forward to spending the rest of the week with the students and teaching them about Christ's love, as we love them.
